Thriving On Freedom – Marian's Perspective of Self-Driven Career and Human Leadership

"Returning from work feeling inspired, safe, fulfilled and grateful is a natural human right to which we are all entitled and not a modern luxury that only a few lucky ones are able to find.", says Simon Sinek, and that's what I love about him, he really gets it; and that's what I love about Accesa, they truly provide an environment where I have the freedom to be myself and lead with compassion my team of almost 100 creative problem-solvers.

I joined Accesa 6 years ago, and I knew right from the beginning that this is where I wanted to shape my career into one that fits my personality and growth interests. A strong focus on freedom and passion for technology attracted me at first, but also the people-oriented mindset, one that empowers you to take ownership of your professional development and build genuine connections with your colleagues and clients.

One and a half years into my journey, I was given the opportunity to take on a Head of Service Delivery position, which now involves managing the web and mobile software development business line. Being accountable for a team of 100 people and a portfolio of 20 projects for dozens of customers across Europe might seem to be one of my biggest challenges. Instead, trying to keep my team tied together and engaged during the pandemic while we were joining forces with our sister-company RaRo got me out of my comfort zone and challenged me in many ways.

In business and life, it's all about the people. And I'm grateful that within my team, we trust each other, and we're not afraid to expose our shortcomings or show our insecurities. We strive to leave blame aside and consistently apply the great common-sense rule. We stay united and learn from each other, facing the biggest challenges together. And after all these years, this place and its people continue to make this experience special for me.

I'm walking into the office, starting to plan my day and answer my emails. I grab a coffee and laugh with my colleagues about everything and nothing. Together we solve all the urgent matters, and I leave the rest in their hands, fully trusting them. A few minutes later, I’m excited to receive a signed contract for a proposal we submitted last week, and I’m beginning to prepare all the necessary steps for this new project. Later, I'm meeting a high performer from my team for her annual discussion, but until then, I continue to work on a first-priority strategic initiative.

Meanwhile, the NPS survey results are finally published, showing great satisfaction from our clients. My day ends as I'm interviewing a promising young professional for a Project Manager position. Tough choice. The right kind of tough choice. There's no rush. I will sleep on it. This sums up my perfect day at the office, one that brings me joy and for which I'm thankful.
