Senior Mainframe Engineer with German

Job Description

The client is a leading IT service provider in Germany, specializing in innovative solutions for the financial services sector. Our partnership focuses on delivering advanced infrastructure and automation projects that enhance operational efficiency and drive digital transformation.

Responsibilities

  • Optimize Mainframe Solutions: Design and implement high-level mainframe solutions, optimizing code and ensuring best practices.

  • Resolve Defects and Troubleshoot: Lead defect resolution, troubleshoot system-wide issues, and minimize operational disruptions.

  • Ensure Development Quality: Develop and execute PL/1 unit tests, enforcing quality standards and collaborating with QA teams.

  • Mentor and Guide Teams: Conduct code reviews, mentor engineers, and foster team growth through technical guidance.

  • Document and Improve Processes: Maintain detailed system documentation and drive improvements in development processes.

  • Deliver Key Features: Oversee feature implementation, ensuring timely delivery and lifecycle adherence.

Qualifications

  • A minimum of 5 years of experience in a Mainframe environment

  • Expertise in mainframe solution design, implementation, and defect resolution.

  • Skilled in PL/1 unit testing and maintaining system documentation.

  • Proven leadership in code reviews, team mentorship, and knowledge management.

  • Experienced in driving software development cycles and meeting deadlines.

  • Track record of optimizing processes and aligning technical strategies with business needs.

  • Strong stakeholder engagement to ensure business and technical alignment.

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills in German and English.

Nice to have:

  • Leadership skills in fostering a collaborative and innovative work environment.

  • Experience in developing training programs for mainframe development team skills enhancement.
